Storing of raw materials and products

Tank storage

It is internal logistics in the enterprise, which deals with the storage of raw materials, resources and goods. The main tasks include the control of cash flows in companies and the provision of raw and auxiliary materials to ensure a smooth production process.

The professional storage of raw materials and products in the chemical or food industry depends on two properties of the substances. The state of matter and the chemical reactivity determine the choice of the components to be used and the type of materials from which they must be prepared.

Several storage tanks can be cased together and assembled into a "tank farm" that offers the flexibility to gradually expand the warehouse.

Raw material storage in tank farms has several advantages:

 • lower purchase prices

 • no packaging material required

 • no waste of raw materials due to residues in packaging containers

 • less workload for unloading and distribution during operation

 • helps to ensure a higher standard of cleanliness and safety through a chemical-free working environment

 • Automation of raw material flow possible

Installation types

Vertical storage tanks according to DIN 6618

DIN 6618-1: 1989-09
Standing tanks (tanks) made of steel, single-walled, for above-ground storage of water polluting, flammable and non-combustible liquids.

Standard sizes: Content: 1 - 100 m3
Standard diameters: 1600, 2000, 2500, 2900 mm

Horizontal storage tanks according to DIN 6616

DIN 6616: 1989-09
Horizontal tanks of steel, single-walled and double-walled, for above-ground storage of water polluting, flammable and non-combustible liquids.

Standard sizes: Content: 1 - 100 m3
Standard diameters: 1600, 2000, 2500, 2900 mm

Materials

Alloyed steel is suitable for low reactivity chemicals and low temperature storage.

Stainless steel grades suitable for most chemicals:
1.4301 EN 10028-7 (AISI 304)
1.4306 EN 10028-7 (AISI 304L)

Stainless steel grades suitable for aggressive chemicals at high temperatures:
1.4401 EN 10028-7 (AISI 316)
1.4404 EN 10028-7 (AISI 316L)
1.4571 EN 10028-7 (AISI 316Ti)
