Separating subtances

Distillation

Distillation is a thermal process for separating solventsin mixtures due to their different volatility. This is theSolvent mixture heated in an evaporator to boiling temperature and partiallyevaporated. The rising vapors are derived, in a condenserdejected and collected in a distillate template.

If the solvents have different vapor pressures at boiling temperature,so the solvents accumulate with the higher vapor pressures in theVapors on. The solvents with the lower vapor pressures remain in contrast
rather in the solvent mixture. So it finds a separation due to thedifferent vapor pressures or volatilities of the components instead.

Filtration

By filtration is meant a mechanical process in which solid particlesfrom a liquid or gas by means of a porous filter mediumbe separated.
Depending on the desired product, a distinction is made between clarifying filtration,Residue filtration and separation filtration (separation filtration). In the sewage filtration isthe desired product, the filtrate, in the residue filtration, the residue and
in the separation filtration, both the residue and the filtrate are as producthe wishes.
  • There is a wide variety of different filter types. They let themselvesdivide by
  • Operating mode (discontinuous or continuous)
  • driving pressure gradient (gravitation, pump pressure, vacuum)
  • Product (clarification, residue or separation filtration)
  • Fineness of the particles (coarse, fine or microfiltration)
  • Filter media (bulk layer, sintered body, sieve, fabric, fleece)
